What’s New in the Neighborhood:
Your HOA Board wants to keep you up to date on what has been accomplished recently.  Here’s what’s been happening:

If you are having problems because your sod was torn up by AT&T while they were installing their new technology, you need to contact Blue Streak Construction, the company responsible for the restoration phase of the project.  Call 1-800-869-1615 and let them know what needs to be fixed.  Be sure to let them know that you are the homeowner.  If you prefer to deal with them by email, write to: customerservice@bluestreakllc.com I would advise calling and speaking to someone directly.

Flowers have been planted at both entrances to Phillips Oaks.

Crepe myrtle trees along the retention pond have been pruned and trimmed.  Look for lovely blooms in late May or June.

There has been concern about dead fish in the retention pond. Contact has been made with The Lake Doctors, the company responsible for maintaining the health of the pond.  Every five years newly born fish are released into the pond. They have a life span of five years. Since the fish are all the same age, when the end of the life span comes, large numbers of them die at approximately the same time.  This leads to concern that something is wrong with the lake. Instead, it is just part of the natural life cycle.  Also, a part of this circle are the turkey buzzards who come to eat the dead fish. This is an ecologically sound way to clean up the problem.  New little fish are now in the pond and the cycle will begin again. Incidentally, The Lake Doctors are also the ones who sprayed around the pond.  This had no connection to the fish dying.  Rather it is part of their treatment to make sure that the pond is not damaged by “bad” bacteria.

The Board would like to thank Robert Carpenter who had donated and installed a second bench at the high end of the pond.  It needs a few days for the concrete to dry completely, but after that, all residents are welcome to have a seat and enjoy the view.   Thank you, Robert.  All of us, especially the regular walkers in the neighborhood, appreciate it.

There are still ongoing issues, such as tree removal and repairing the brick wall. The Board will continue working on them.  Please help us in keeping our neighborhood clean and attractive. This brings up property values for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in keeping Phillips Oaks a wonderful place to call home. We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!

Sincerely,

POHOA Board of Directors
